SKIP this place!!

We have eaten here every July 4th weekend for the past four years. Food usually very good but owner, Jacques, tends to be short with his customers and rude.

We went last evening as a party of four and gave Jacques a warm hello and told him we were excited to be back. Restaurant was busy. His response: "I did not ask you to come back". After scratching my head, I said "excuse me"? He had a moment to take it back but he just couldn't be gracious. He then replied "You were lucky to get a table".

Bad gets worse. My best friend has Celiac and then waited patiently to ask Jacques about food ingredients for different dishes so as not to get sick. In this world of food safety and allergies, this is critically important. Jacques was annoyed with the questions and kept waving his hands, gesturing for him to hurry up and finish his allergy questions.

Needless to say, we couldn't bear to give him our money after those nasty comments. We got up and left. He half-heartedly tried to now make like it was a joke as he was watching a $500-600 table leave his restaurant. The service is pretty weak anyway. Jacques selfishly is the waiter for every table and has 2-3 local women helping him get the drinks and clear tables. It's all his ploy for himself to keep all of the 15-20% tip he adds to your bill and pays the locals a minimum wage. He was hurrying up the allergy questions because one waiter cannot truly service an entire restaurant. Again, greedy - wanting to keep all the tips to himself.

Went to Picante down the street where they could not have been nicer and the food was incredible. Owner is lovely. Answered all allergy questions in a patient manner and made a bowl of chips that were gluten friendly.

Jacques. Do not forget - customers come first. And your nasty rhetoric, for whatever reason, is unacceptable when people are paying $150-200 per person for the "honor" to eat at your restaurant. Frankly, there are many better restaurants on the island including Veya, Picante, Blanchards and the Straw Hat to name a few.

Romantic, classy, friendly staff, and the food is unmatched. Don't miss the calamari risotto (makes a great appetizer for two), or the teriyaki tuna. The beach views don't hurt either!
