Slovak National Gallery

I visited 4 years ago and rated it the worst national gallery I had visited. Now it is being renovated and there is an imaginative way of showing parts of the collection. Would recommend a visit and it is currently free. The current fashion exhibition is an insight into the totalitarian regime and it's impact on life.

Paintings and statues are on the first level. On the second there is a fashion exhibition. On the third is a conceptual art exhibition. A nice place to visit! The entrance is free.

Nicely organised (and most likely recently reconstructed) gallery. There's a book store on the ground floor.

Currently, this place is a must visit if you happen to be in Bratislava:

Due to the ongoing renovation, the Slovak National Gallery has free entry!
We visited in late December 2016 and apart from some nice sculptures on the first floor, the Gallery had a very (very!) impressive and honest exhibition about Slovakias role in World War II and their relationship to the Third Reich.
I was unaware of this part of gruesome history and learned a lot about the darkest chapter of humanity... Spare some time and visit "Dream x Reality 1939 - 1945", it is a thought-provoking experience.
