Positives:
Safe feeling fenced compacted level gravel parking lot style with one entrance/exit; Central location;
Fenced dog park with nice shade trees, rough grass & benches (in need a bit of ♡) **Watch small dogs-gaps are large at gates**;
Nice neighbors-friendly pets;
Safe feeling- walked my 10lb dog late at night & felt totally safe.
Everyone is respectful of quiet times so the park itself is quiet;
Friendly hosts (multiple), private security & occasionally local pd drive throughs for an added measure.
Negatives:
Absolutely NO SHADE so your rig will get very warm (winter) to baking hot (summer);
AREA SURROUNDING NOT QUIET. Impossible due to location though so just know the noise from surrounding area is consistently loud and gets worse at night, even on weekdays.
The noise comes from:
Major train traffic;
Sirens from police cars, emergency vehicles etc; Helicopters for traffic, police etc.
Street racing of cars & motorcycles.
Driving around:
Congested, heavy traffic!
A challenge in a big rig esp. if you're unfamiliar with the freeways;
Realize the general surrounding area does have a population of transients.
Be smart!
The golden rules everywhere: Lock everything & DO NOT answer your door unless you expect or know someone!
Overall I felt safe & had no issues other than noise from the surrounding area... so bring some earplugs & enjoy the Cal Expo & Arden Mall!

The location and staff are absolutely fantastic if you want to be near downtown Sacramento! Bathrooms are super clean and parking spaces are of a moderate size.

They squeezed us in last minute for a month stay. Grateful for that, the place looks nice so far, staff is amazing. I was going through a couple things while staying here (nothing to do with the park) and the staff was accommodating and are some of the kindest people I have come across while RVing. My puppy loved it here. It's nothing fancy, but it's exactly what we needed while looking for a place. I would recommend this location to anyone passing through Sacramento. There are also beautiful trails behind the Cal Expo, so many events to attend at the Cal Expo, and it's right near the mall, grocery stores etc. Full hookups $650 dollars a month, 30 night maximum stay. $40 per night (I believe, overheard another conversation, while in the office.) Check with the front desk just to be sure. Upon checking in and a $20 deposit (optional) and I highly recommend, they give you a key which is used to access their bathrooms, which I see being cleaned often if not daily. They have approx 8-10 restrooms that are private, each with their own toilet, sink, and shower. Your key will access any one of them. Laundry is 8-5 when the office is open (on site.) They have one very small area for dogs that is just gravel. (The size of a small bedroom.) Best to let your puppy own to roam and use the restroom. The other dog park is sufficient for them to run and play, it is fenced in and everyone is very respectful of the one dog at a te unsaid rule :) Thank you Cal Expo. You are greatly appreciated!

Love the park love the people, Cal expo RV Park is conviently located off interstate 80, near the river and miles of trails. Top class entertainment & restaurants are just 5 minute walk away.
The park has paved & gravel areas all full hookup, easy access for large rigs.
Another plus is the great Security which creates a safe and secure environment.
Amenities include a dog run and dog park, front office building with a meeting room available which may be booked for group events, the laundry room is open from 9am to 5pm and next door are a number of showers and restrooms.
Staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome & comfortable HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I wouldn't describe this as the prettiest park I've ever been at, but it's clean, level, has great hookups (30/50, water, sewer) and is well maintained. Clean and orderly. The biggest appeal to this park will be the location, if you're into horse races or other events at the raceway next door... but if you're simply looking for a close location to the Sacramento area -- it's a great place to stop over for a few days. My preference in campgrounds is more along the lines of rustic woods areas -- so take my opinion based on that. This park does not fit that description, but I certainly appreciate it for what it is. Level, clean, and straight to the point. The staff is super friendly and very accommodating.
