My sister and I were here yesterday. We've been many times and never had a bad experience before but did this time.

After giving ourselves a self tour my sister and I stopped and were chatting when two sister missionaries approached us. We actually had a couple questions so we gladly began conversing with them but quickly regretted it. The one missionary was from the Philippines and it's possible she was quiet due to a language barrier, shyness or embarrassment because of her companion. Regardless she just stood there staring and smiling awkwardly. Her companion on the other hand was aggressive and rude. She answered our questions bluntly like we were annoying her and she was scolding us despite her being the one to approach us. We tried to excuse ourselves, but she blocked our exit and demanded that we answer her questions since she answered ours. She then spent 10-15 minutes grilling us on our personal beliefs and practices. When she didn't like our honest but polite answers she would try to manipulate us into agreeing to things we didn't want. I felt like she was holding us hostage. We finally got away and my very active LDS sister immediately felt the need to apologize to me on behalf of the church even though I asked her to come.

I'm fairly certain that anyone who walked by would have easily been able to see by our body language and faces that my sister and I were uncomfortable with the situation. We also tried to verbally excuse ourselves no less than 5 times. I'm disturbed that this is how visitors are treated there and doubt I will be back.

I should note that all the missionaries from other buildings were warm and welcoming. This was exclusive to the visitors center...

Very interesting visitors' center and worth checking-out if you're in Salt Lake City. If you are interested in history, there is an interactive model of ancient Jerusalem that chronicles the inspiring life of Jesus.

The staff was very helpful at directing us to the Family History Center!

The visitors' center on Temple Square with a variety of different interpretive displays. The main display is a large statue of Jesus Christ, which is quite moving. There is a large nativity between this visitor center and the tabernacle during the Christmas season.

Do you want to get a quick and impactful way to understand the heart and soul of the Mormon faith? This is the place. If you don't know that Mormons are deep-rooted Christians after sitting in front of a 14-foot statue called the Christus for a few minutes, you will never believe they are Christians. This is a must-see, Must-experience location if you're visiting and trying to understand what Utah is all about.

Temple Square is an amazing spiritual experience that I would recommend to anyone. If you are interested in learning more about what makes the LDS religion believe what it does, this place is where you ought to go!

The reason for not giving a full 5 stars, is because the Temple Square Sister Missionaries need to be more united in figuring out how the reservations work. In some cases, when calling to schedule an appointment, they tell us two things: 1. It needs to be scheduled two days before, or 2. There is no need to make a reservation for a tour, just come by the front desk.

Then when we get to the front desk at the visitors center, we are told another three things: 1. Call the day before, or 2. You don't need to call two days before, or 3. You need to call two days before.

So while the experience on Temple Square is amazing, and would be an amazing experience for everyone, the sisters who run the Square may need more training on how to manage and run the administrative side of things as well as the spiritual side of things. Their testimonies are powerful, but their administration needs some work.
