Food came quickly, and the melange was great. But then there was a mysterious 9.70€ charge on the handwritten bill and when we asked for an explanation, the waiter just said bruskly it was for "services." There was no service charge listed on the menu. They clearly take advantage of tourists - don't come here.

A beautiful vintage coffee shop. The Melange was not as good as I would've hoped for but the service was quick and good.

This was my "go to" cafe as a student in the late 1980s. Not much has changed, except you can't smoke any longer inside - good. This is a more spacious cafe than say nearby Hawelka.

We've been traveling for 5 days in Europe and this place deserves number one for the worst service and manners! The waiter was rude, made us feel as if we were interrumpting his day. We recommend you should skip this place, NOT worth it at all.

One of the most important Cafés for the German speaking post-war literary scene, because the author Thomas Bernhard used to come here. They have an EXCELLENT international selection of newspapers. One of the best in town. During the week, outside of lunch time, it is generally not crowded. Saturdays there's live music with a small orchestra playing classical music.
Food is ok, but Coffee is simply horrible, even the classic Viennese "melange". However often I go there, and I go there often, I just get warm water with a strange taste served as coffee. Also, in summer it gets very hot!
But, how should I put it, I LOVE IT!
