My friend and I went for Thai Massage at Urban Nirvana. I had a good experience with Krystal, but unfortunately, my friend had a horrible experience with Nikki. Nikki expressed concerns about my friend's health, but upon questioning could only tell her that her muscle was "flipped." Upon questioning, Nikki could not identify the muscle or even muscle group that she was talking about. During the treatment, at no point did Nikki ask if the pressure was too much or too little. Instead, she insisted that my friend was too tense and to relax. After telling Nikki that she was trying as best as she can to relax, Nikki told her that the problem is that she needs to "relax her mind." While I agree that meditative mental states are imperative to physical wellness, telling someone to "relax their mind" then and there is not going to help anyone especially on the first treatment, before developing any kind of client/practitioner relationship, especially if the client came there to achieve relaxation! My friend is just graduating from school and will be working in the health care field. At the end of the treatment, Nikki told her that "if she cannot heal herself, she should not be treating others." Although this fortune cookie statement may be true at times, it is absolutely inappropriate to say to a young woman just beginning her career. My friend left completely confused and hurt - feeling as if she could not enjoy the treatment because it was her fault she could not "relax" and that she will not be able to fulfill her role in her work if she could not "heal herself." I am absolutely disgusted at the type of treatment my friend received and I would never refer Nikki or Urban Nirvana to anyone else.

I would also like to note that I sent these comments to Urban Nirvana themselves and never heard back. I also emailed them asking if they had received this review... and never heard back. It has been 3 weeks since sending the initial review to Urban Nirvana.

This is hands down the best place to get a massage or alternative treatment in Toronto. I promise, and not just because I am the owner. I have personally tried every massage therapist and they are all amazing! I also went to see our Osteopath Yuri and Chinese Medicine / Acupuncturist Carly after my recent car accident. Not only did they help me recover quickly but they also found and fixed other problems that I have had for a long time.

Went here to treat myself for my birthday to a Thai Body Bliss Massage.

Unfortunately ran into quite a few issues with logistics and left very disappointed with my experience. It seemed very ametaurish and not seemless.

I arrived for my appointment and they were close to 10 minutes behind. Not a big deal (at this point). Decided to take them up on the tea they offered after hearing about being delayed - tea was cold (again no second thoughts at this point).

When called in to start the massage the room was COLD - I don't like cold especially when trying to relax.

When it was time to rinse off all the body scrub, I had to wrap myself in a bed sheet and walk to the shower outside of the treatment room (poor set up). There was when the problems started to compound. The shower door was locked and they didn't have a key. They were knocking and looking for a key. Oddly enough one of their staff were in there (not showering) but at the same time didn't acknowledge them knocking (very strange) when he did - they asked me to go back to the room and wait. SO 5 minutes later, I went for my shower.

It unfortunately got worse. There was NO HOT WATER, not even warm. I tried putting the faucet both ways and it was freezing. At this point I had to get the body scrub off so just soaked a towel and wiped my body.

Let them know and after them running it for about 5 minutes later - the hot water started to come back.

The rest of the massage was terrible as I was freezing and the masseuse kept commenting on how cold my body felt. I was so close to just getting up and leaving - but tried to stay positive.

I think the real kicker was when I was asked about my experience and I shared it was poor and definitely not what was expected, the receptionist apologized and offered $20.00 off my next treatment.

I didn't really know what to say - I just spent $240.00 on a very poor experience and I was offered $20.00 off to come back. I was freezing and just wanted to get outside into the warmth. I thanked them for the offer.

Looking at the previous reviews I was very surprised by my experience. I own a business and get sometimes things happen, but it's how things are handled when things come up that make the difference.

This was very different (in a good way) from what I have experienced before. It's like a mixture of a massage, with a private Yoga class, as the massages are combined with stretches.

I highly recommend it to anyone with stiffness in their lower back like me.
