Day 1 Beijing
Upon arrival at Beijing Capital Airport, you are met and transferred to your hotel. Meet your guide and fellow trekkers at the Evening Reception.

Day 2 Beijing – Jiankou
After breakfast in your hotel, begin your adventure with travel by private vehicle to the Great Wall at Jiankou. After check in at a farmer’s guest house for the overnight stay, we immediately ascend the Wall and start climbing. Jiankou Great Wall is a favorite location among many photographers since the Wall here clings to dramatic high ridges of the mountains covered with thick vegetation that create fantastic views. Spend the night in a village guesthouse and enjoy a homemade dinner using fresh local produce.

Day 3 Jiankou – Simatai
Today travel by private vehicle with your guide and driver to Jinshanling. Start hiking on the Jinshanling Great Wall section around noon time. Traversing the undulating hills, hikers will encounter as many as 150 watchtowers, battlements, terraces and turrets that houses troops guarding the Wall in the old days. Architecturally, there are towers of square, circular and oblate shapes. Roofs with flat, vaulted, domed and quadrangular ceilings are common. At the end of the day, you arrive at Simatai for a comfortable overnight at a local guesthouse.

Day 4 Simatai – Huangyaguan
After breakfast in the guesthouse, begin hiking at Simatai, a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site. The actual construction of Simatai section on the border between Beijing and Hebei Province began in 1368. The 19-kilometer Wall was built with unique structural design A courtyard with Great Wall in the background at Huangyaguan, Tianjin to accommodate the impossibly steep slopes. The 35 watchtowers vary from each another in architectural details and purpose. Among them, Wangjinglou (Capital Viewing Tower) at the elevation of 986 meters (3235 feet) was constructed on sheer precipices and on clear days one can see Beijing 120 kilometers (75 miles) away. The afternoon drive from Simatai to Huangyaguan takes about three hours through a stunning landscape of small villages, rugged hills, and narrow valleys.

Day 5 Huangyaguan – Zunhua
The Huangyaguan section of the Great Wall winds through a Great variety of landscapes creating magnificent vistas along the steep mountain ridges. This section features strongholds, fortresses, turrets and water barriers designed to repel invaders from the North. Each of the beacon towers offer fantastic views. In the afternoon, drive to the East Qing Tombs to visit the tomb of Dowager Empress Cixi. An interpretive Museum and charming walkway lined with carved stone animals can be explored. Arrive in Zunhua by the evening and dinner is on your own.

Day 6 Zunhua – Qian’An
Travel by private vehicle to Panjiakou Reservoir and explore the remnants of the ruined Great Wall including a section that has been submerged under the water. The Great Wall here has a different appeal, winding along rolling hills mirrored by the large lake. Hike along the Xifengkou Section of the Wall and visit several villages and sites used for filming Chinese epic cinema. In late afternoon, travel to Qian’An and spend the night in town and enjoy a tasty local cuisine dinner.

Day 7 Qian’An – Shanhaiguan
This morning, drive through rolling hills into the Yanshan Mountain and arrive at Baiyangyu Great Wall, which was the only section of the Great Wall built upon marble bases. You will hike for three to four hours from Baiyangyu to the strategic Lengkou Pass. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the Wall, and stop by a small village to chat with farmers and visit their homes. In the afternoon travel by vehicle to Shanhaiguan and check into your hotel and enjoy a hearty dinner.

Day 8 Shanhaiguan
Today’s Trekking takes you into Liaoning Province, the southern most of the three provinces in Manchuria (Northest China and commonly called “Dongbei” in Mandarin). The Great Wall reaches the ocean, Hebei. Explore the unique Jiumenkou Great Wall. Here at Jiumenkou, we find extensive defense structures that were constructed above a river. In the afternoon, we conclude the Great Wall adventure with a final four kilometers walk from the strategic Shanhaiguan Pass to Laolongtou (Old Dragon Head), where the 3, 500-mile-long Great Wall finally plunges into the Bohai Sea of the Pacific Ocean. Celebrate your Great accomplishment with your guide and fellow trekkers in a local seafood restaurant.

Day 9 Shanhaiguan – Beijing
After breakfast, drive back with your guide to Beijing along modern motorways and arrive by early afternoon. Check in your hotel and the balance of the day is for your relaxation or urban exploration.

Day 10 Return Home
Transfer to the airport and board your homebound flight. Arrive in North America on the same day.
