I have heard so much about it I was eager to visit the museum. When we finally managed yesterday afternoon. I was left gobsmacked. From the 5 story building, only the mezzanine and basement had exhibits; a photo exhibition by people in rehab and a Japanese calligraphy art. I found more interesting the 20 staff loitering around doing, well, not much. As nobody else was there, it could have been mistaken for interactive theater performance of the public servant life in Greece. If you are around it is worth a visit, and it’s free: courtesy of the Greek tax payers.

Coming from London, it makes you wonder why the manager of the museum had not prearranged the schedule of exhibits prior to the opening. Is it sheer incompetence or neglect? But even if nobody wants to entrust the precious collections to the hands of some amateur newbies, Athens is bursting with talent seeking a space to showcase their art. They could have easily hoover this art and celebrate it. They could even curated a room on the history of the building itself and it’s brand. Ah and yes. This is the FIX brewery, not EMSK (sounds like Slavic ending). Nothing wrong w the Slavic language but how the heck will anybody remember this brand. This this the FIX MODERN, got it?. 🎁

They have a great collection which THEY DONT SHOW. Why build a whole building to show a miniscule guest exhibition?

This museum is not still open. Only temporar excibitions. The building is ready though and lookes like it will be a great art museum.

Visited for documenta 14. A nice place to visit if you want to see more than the classical antiqueties in the area. It is contemporary art so it's for those who enjoy this type of art. The documenta excibition was ok ranging from great aesthetical forms to naive meanings. (Other central places for the documenta exsibition are benaki museum at piraios and the conservatoire building).

8€ enterance. I got in free with unemployment card.

Revisited for xieyi Chinese painting. Small but nice exhibition.

It's not need to say how it works with the artists within the circle of commercial painting and the public relations between "galleries of art",curators that write prose that need translation..if the impressionists had been dentists do you think they could do a better job referring to my favourite writer....

Kudos to the architect. All the rest was unacceptable. We paid the tickets and were not given a ticket or receipt. We asked for it and there was evident disappointment. There were very few artworks worth being featured in a National Museum...
