Anchor Brewery tour was excellent, even for a person like me who knows very little about beer. First of all, parking was super easy for Saturday at 2pm. The tour started with a sample of their staple beer, Anchor Steam. This was followed by a walking tour of the brewery. Mike, the tour guide, did a great job explaining the beer making process. The only downside to going on a weekend is that the floor where beer is produced is not in operation.
After the walking tour of three different levels, we were led back to the main room where we were given five additional samplings, from the lightest to the heaviest/darkest. It seemed like each one was better than the last.
The gift store was tiny but had Anchor t-shirts, hats, glasses, and of course beer. All the items were fairly priced. Compared to items sold on Pier 39, these were dirt cheap.
I have never been on any other beer factory tours so I can't say how it compares but this was a very relaxing and informative 90 minutes.
