I had previously looked into this store out of curiosity, and saw that they sold cupcakes at $2.50. They were heavily-frosted, and about the same size as any normal-sized cupcake. The price per cupcake only drops when you buy by the dozen, and even then it's $27.50.
I left, and had spent the next two weeks thinking about this horrible business practice. ALL they sold was cupcakes. There was a table full of useless kitschy items, but essentially, JUST cupcakes. No drinks, no supplementary products to such a narrow product line. Nothing else existed that could offset such a gouging price for such a small product.
Finally, after consulting several others who shared my views, I decided to go in and try to offer my concerns and recommendations. The woman behind the desk was fairly put off, and directly asked me if I was going to buy something. When I said no, she abruptly informed me "Then I don't have time to talk!" and walked off, leaving me standing in an otherwise empty store.
If I want a cupcake, I'll bake it myself or go to the Cocoa Bean, which is not only closer, but offers -twice- the volume of delicious cake for $2.75, AND sells a variety of drinks. I don't need to shell out over two bucks for a peasely confection and superficial customer service.
