Cool spot to hang out with locals. The Volkshotel has options for everyone - coffee shop/lounge, night club and Doka, the underground bar. We went for a storytelling event and enjoyed it. If we were looking for an after-hours spot the next time in Amsterdam, Doka would certainly be on that list, even though it's a bit far out from the city centrum.

I was there on a Saturday night - few and not very pleasant people, subdued atmosphere. Bar is friendly and capable, but it lacks the atmosphere of a downtown bar and seems a bit out of place in a hotel catering for Backpack-tourists mostly.

Doka, a theatre cocktail bar, is a place to chill out and lose yourself. It’s a spot where tourists, locals and creatives come together. With a nice dark interior, the bar has great charisma. Cocktails are shaken by professionals and eye-popping theatrical performances are daily routine. You’ll find the bar in the basement of the Volkshotel but to enter, you must find the secret door.
