For a tourist, this area is definitely worth a visit: you will find plenty of cute little shops along picturesque canals, cafes and restaurants all around making it a perfect place to wander round in summer. Just don't come here expecting some super bargains as said places tend to lean toward the high-end and expensive. ALSO do not come here expecting to find indie local designers or creative spaces - not the place for that!!

Must-see in Amsterdam. You should spend one evening in this quarter when you visit Amsterdam. Grab a bite somewhere in the cosy streets and enjoy the scenery and atmosphere along the canals.

Standard pretty cancel streets. They are suppose to be known for their fashion, but we didn't really see anything that made us think we were in a fashion area (or really any kind of special stores). We bored of the area really quickly and moved on to other more interesting things. (Note: the pretty canals were not boring - there are prettier canal areas elsewhere though - it was just not a really exciting shopping district and there wasn't much going on)

This is a very nice area, very touristy. There are a lot of peculiar small stores in small streets surrounded by the canals. Nice to walk.

This was one of my favorite places to visit. Grab a bike and head over as early as possible and grab brunch at one of the many canal-side cafes. Then bike down each of the nine streets as many times as you can. Plan to spend 4-5 hours because there is so much to see- the stores, festivals, flea markets... I even was surprised by both a marching band and a religious procession at different times. Also bring your credit cards. So many places to shop- Dutch clothing and home goods, antiques, and much more!
