We visited the "new" Омар Хайям" - most reviews and pix still feature the "old" one. It is now a posh, dimly lit meeting place for the urban hipsters of Dushanbe. There are little curtained sèparès for groups and families. Rather formal wear is required and the place is rather expensive for Tajikistan (not so by int'l standards). That part is nice.
The food, however, is rather disappointing. Despite the name of the place the food is international (with a Russian tilt on mains and Italian one on desserts) with just a touch of Tajik influence. This is especially sad for tea and bread which are not as they are supposed to. Most dishes are a bit loveless and mediocre. We could not really enjoy them as we would have loved to.
As a lounge the place is quite hip though.
