Visited as a small group for a birthday lunch and we were treated to delicious mains and desserts - highly recommend the treacle tart with lemon posset. We'll definitely be back next visit to York! We also really appreciated the friendly staff who went out of their way to organise a seat for our little one and inform us there were no changing facilities ahead of arrival.

Beautiful food, minimally and tastefully done. Professional presentation and cooked with precision. Mains around the £20-25 mark, attentive service - worth it.

Having visited York a few times recently I discovered this little gem, lovely food and nice atmosphere. Local produce used and you can tell in the fresh taste of the food. The menu is inventive and you can watch the ghost walk pass if you eat after 7.30pm. Will visit this place everytime i'm in York. Anyone on a budget they do a special before 7.00pm which is exceptional value!!

My husband and I also stumbled across Nineteen whilst wandering around York and we thought we'd found a gem. We both ordered monk fish chowder and were bitterly disappointed when it arrived. The portion was extremely small and it could not be described as a chowder if you accept the definition of chowder to be 'A thick soup containing fish or shellfish, especially clams, and vegetables, such as potatoes and onions, in a milk or tomato base'. It was also over priced. We left hungry and disatisfied and we won't be returning.
