The Flåm railway is absolutely worth visiting. You get to see a very beautiful landscape with steep cliffs and fabulous views. A lot of waterfalls.
Near the station is a museum as well show how they have built this amazing railway in 20 years time.

We went on the Flam railway after going to Flam on a cruise. We booked the trip on the train independently of the ship tours by going online the night before. We got the trip for half the price of the ships tour price. We just walked to the train, less than 5 minutes from the ship and got on the train. We caught the 07.30 train and there was hardly anyone on it. We beat the ship tours. We had room to look and take photos out of each side of the carriage.

Beautiful scenery. Comfortable seats. Historic railway and as one of the steepest railways in the world quite an engineering feat. The train stops at several out of the way places for backpackers and others to get on and off. You can take the tram as a round trip or one way.
